Marauders Gerard Leeder Injured: Day-to-Day
Thursday, July 13th, 2034
The topic du jour around Maple is whether Gerard Leeder of the Marauders will suit up for today's contest. He was injured yesterday against the Bombers while colliding with a player at a base. The standout 31-year-old second baseman has a strained back muscle and didn't rule out playing, but did say that if pain persisted, he would not risk further injury.
"Gerard will play if he can," said the team doctor. "He hasn't got a major injury, but at the same time, we need to monitor the situation and protect him as much as possible."
This year Leeder is batting .275 with 97 hits and 23 home runs. He has scored 70 times and has batted in 75 runs.
