Smashing Success: Taniguchi Wallops 3 HR Sunday, May 22nd, 2033 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Georgia Grays today. San Diego first baseman Tokuhei Taniguchi tripled up on the home runs to propel the Hops to the 7-6 win at The Death Star. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Georgia manager Davey Morris said. "Taniguchi hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Taniguchi collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 3 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Tokuhei Taniguchi hit a solo-shot off Dao-zi Chou in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Dao-zi Chou in the 4th, walked in the 6th, walked in the 8th, hit a solo-shot off Martin Blank in the 9th and struck out in the 10th. In this current campaign Taniguchi is hitting at a .306 clip with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs. |
