Flores Removed; Fired by San Francisco Earthquakes
Saturday, January 15th, 2033
Today the Earthquakes made an announcement: The era of Julián Flores is over in San Francisco.
After a disappointing season, the club officials sat down with Flores to discuss their decision to make a change.
"It wasn't a surprise to me," Flores said speaking with reporters. "As a team we did not perform up to people's expectations, nor to my expectations. When that happens, someone has to take the blame. This year, that person was me."
In an official statement, Earthquakes general manager Greg Erbisch expressed gratitude for Flores's efforts, but confirmed the need to look for a different voice in the clubhouse.
"We thank Julián for providing class, professionalism, experience and leadership during his tenure with the club, but believe we need to make this important change to our team's management," he said.
