The Canby Lancers topped the Billings West Golden Bears by the score of 9-8, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Brian Griffith. Griffith went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5 for the Lancers. Canby reliever Kevin Bovill picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Brian Heckard was saddled with the loss. Chad Kula locked down his 5th save.

Had Bill McKissick not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, McKissick hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 9-8, in favor of the Lancers.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Canby skipper Cody Coffman.

The Lancers bumped their record to 18-18 with this latest triumph.
