The 2034 season is getting ugly for Derby.

The Downsview Mustangs beat the Derby Panthers, 12-8, at Managua HS Grounds. The Mustangs got a fine performance from center fielder David Newman, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Downsview, at 16-19, occupies last place in the Pete Rose League Alex Rodriguez Division.

Newman had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a first pitch cutter from Troy Gallagher, he banged a grand slam home run to center, giving the Mustangs a 12-8 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Newman.

Newman told a Downsview Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
