Patriots Bang Out 6-3 Win Versus Montreal
|
The Francis Lewis Patriots defeated the Montreal Cardinals, 6-3. Earning player of the game honors was first baseman Bill Hanson, who went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. David Belke, the winner, improved to 3-2. He held the Cardinals to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Marshall McAuley closed it out for his 1st save.
When the Patriots needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Hanson who delivered. Facing Montreal pitcher Jason Phillips the bottom of the first with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Hanson hit his 4th home run of the year. It made the score 4-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Hanson. "And not try to do too much."
The Patriots bumped their record to 18-16 with this latest triumph.
