Mustangs Continue Skid Thanks to Benitez, Panthers
The Derby Panthers defeated the Downsview Mustangs, 11-9. Earning player of the game honors was catcher Fernando Benitez, who went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Derby reliever Steve Lusk picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Erik Law absorbed the loss. Downsview has now lost 7 in a row.

Benitez had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-2 fastball from Erik Law, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Panthers a 11-7 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Benitez.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Benitez. "And not try to do too much."
