Armada Get Close Win Over Hornets
The Eureka Hornets got a superb performance from pitcher Pat Sheffield, but the Quebec Armada still won the game, 3-2. Sheffield was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. The 4th-place Armada are now 41-44, the Hornets 41-43.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Quebec shortstop Matsudaira Shimada, facing Pat Sheffield, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Armada the 3-2 win.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Quebec manager Jorge Morales. "Our pregame was pretty good."
