Mefford Helps Islanders Run Win Streak to 8
The Grand Island Islanders beat the San Marin Mustangs, 10-6, at Silvertips Ballpark. The Islanders got a fine performance from designated hitter Nick Mefford, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Justin Sullins, credited with the win, is now 4-1. He allowed 5 runs on 11 hits in 7.2 innings.
