Lions Come Up Short at Topeka West
It was a good time at Breakers Ballpark, where fans came to watch the Lerna Lions and Topeka West Chargers get after it.

Getting a good performance from second baseman Neil Gephardt, the Topeka West Chargers defeated the Lerna Lions, 6-5. Gephardt was 2-2 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Chargers. Topeka West reliever Matt Ratliff picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. John Woods took the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Christian Rone came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Lerna pitcher John Woods, he hit a 1-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Topeka West on top, 6-5.

"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Chargers," said Rone.

Topeka West is now 14-18, Lerna 16-16.
