Cardinals Bang Out 10-4 Win Versus Jacksonville State
|
The Kearny High Cardinals racked up a win at Loggers Ballpark, bumping off the Jacksonville State Jaguars, 10-4. Doug Castro, who started for Kearny High, pitched effectively for his team. Castro got the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed 4 hits and walked 3 over 6.1 innings. Castro allowed 3 earned runs. The Cardinals bumped their record to 17-14 with this latest triumph.
Despite the loss, the Cardinals got an encouraging performance from 15-year-old Jeremy Conrad. In the top of the fifth, he hit a 2-run double to make the score 3-2, Jacksonville State.
"It's not easy for a young guy to go out there and perform," Cardinals manager Seth Richert said. "But he did it like one of the vets."
