Dragons Best Bay Stars in Pitching Duel
|
The Chunichi Dragons topped the Yokohama Bay Stars, 2-1, in Central League action at Cuckoos Stadium. The player of the game was Chunichi center fielder Shoshi Matsuo. The save was credited to Shichiro Iba, his 10th. The Dragons bumped their record to 33-24 with this latest triumph.
Matsuo came through with some timely hitting for Chunichi. With the score 0-0 in the top of the fourth and no one down, Matsuo hit a 3-1 fastball for a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season made it 1-0, Chunichi.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Matsuo.
