The Hanshin Tigers easily defeated the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, 14-1, at Ballpark of Otofuke College, with catcher Kumeo Shiba a main contributor to the win. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for Hanshin. This win makes it 6 in a row for Hanshin.

Shiba had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the second inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Tigers went on to win.
