Bay Stars Score Late, Upend Giants, 4-2
|
Yokohama Bay Stars starter Tim Johnson turned in an exceptional performance against the Yomiuri Giants at Ballpark of Yamagata College, resulting in a Yokohama win, 4-2. In 7 innings, Johnson surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Nobu Arita was credited with the save for Yokohama, his 9th of the season.
Had Kazutomi Migita not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Migita hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Bay Stars.
In postgame comments to the Yokohama Citizen, Johnson said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Bay Stars go to 22-26, putting them 5th in the Central Division.
