The Chunichi Dragons got a strong performance from pitcher Tetsuhiro Yamamoto, who stymied the Yomiuri offense en route to a 8-0 win at Ballpark of Yamagata College. Teruo Matsumoto recorded his 1st save for Chunichi. The Dragons go to 22-21, putting them 4th in the Central Division.
Kol-in-sen Koo, who is tied for 2nd in the CL in doubles with 14, helped out the Chunichi cause in the top of the ninth inning with a bases-clearing triple. For the game, the designated hitter was 2-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Yamamoto told reporters after the game.
