Carp Continue Skid Thanks to Yen, Giants
|
The 2034 season is getting ugly for Hiroshima Toyo.
The Yomiuri Giants knocked off the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, 9-4, at Frogs Ballpark. Gui-fan Yen, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Yomiuri won. The right fielder went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Akshey Battacharjee got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 6 innings. Tadasumi Murakami picked up the save for Yomiuri, his 2nd of the year.
Early in the game, Yen had a 3-run home run for Yomiuri. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Giants on top, 3-0.
Yen said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
The Carp, now 10-30, have lost 4 straight.
