Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Minehiro Nishida, the Hanshin Tigers defeated the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, 10-1. Nishida was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs for the Tigers. Reliever Jason Hampton picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ryozo Takamatsu took the loss. The Tigers have an impressive 26-15 record.

Early in the game, right fielder Kiyonori Ogura had a grand slam home run for Hanshin. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Tigers on top, 4-0.

"The Tigers definitely had our number," said Tokyo Yakult manager Jay Churchill.
