The Swallows had to overcome a fine performance from Yokohama pitcher Todd Pearson to grab a 4-3 win at Cuckoos Stadium. Pearson allowed 2 earned runs over 5 innings. Matt Stevenson earned the save for Tokyo Yakult, his 11th. The Swallows bumped their record to 21-18 with this latest triumph.
The Swallows got a big at-bat from center fielder Shi-ping Xú. For the game, Xú was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Tokyo Yakult a 4-3 lead.
"Feels good to get the job done," Xú said after the game.
