Victory Pushes Giants Record to 22-12
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Gui-fan Yen, the Yomiuri Giants defeated the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, 7-1. Yen went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Giants. Tae-sang Khang was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 2 hits, with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts. The first-place Giants have won 5 straight.
Yen had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning, when he hit a grand slam. The Giants went on to win.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Yen.
