Victory Pushes Swallows Record to 17-12
The Tokyo Yakult Swallows topped the Hiroshima Toyo Carp by the score of 7-4, with the largest share of the credit going to catcher Tooru Miyahira. Miyahira was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Swallows. Tokyo Yakult reliever Mitsunobu Tamura picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Yasuyuki Takizawa took the loss. Hyun-sik Park earned the save for Tokyo Yakult, his 2nd of the year.

Miyahira contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Tokyo Yakult in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 4-2, Miyahira took a fastball from Yasuyuki Takizawa and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Swallows to leap in front, 5-4.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Miyahira told reporters after the game.

The Swallows bumped their record to 17-12 with this latest triumph.
