Victory Pushes Swallows Record to 16-11
|
Despite a fine performance by center fielder Minehiro Nishida, the Hanshin Tigers suffered a 9-6 loss to the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. Nishida was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The Swallows bumped their record to 16-11 with this latest triumph.
It could have been a different outcome for Tokyo Yakult, had it not been for Tomotaka Sudo, the 21-year old left fielder . Sudo contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put Tokyo Yakult up, 2-0.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Sudo. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
