Giants Solve Bay Stars, 3-2
|
Giants right fielder Gui-fan Yen put his stamp on his team's 3-2 win over the Yokohama Bay Stars. Yen went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Yomiuri in the contest. Yomiuri reliever Goro Tanaka picked up the win to move to 3-0. Tim Johnson suffered the loss. The save was Kenshin Kawamoto's, his 4th.
The Giants got a big at-bat from left fielder Tomoharu Fujiyama. For the game, Fujiyama went 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Yomiuri a 3-2 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Yomiuri skipper Masato Ojima.
The Giants have an impressive 11-6 record.
