Giants Squelch Tigers Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Hanshin Tigers got a superb performance from pitcher Tsutomu Mori. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Yomiuri. The Giants won the game, 6-0. In spite of the loss, Mori was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. The win was Goro Tanaka's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Tsutomu Mori took the loss for Hanshin. At 5-3, the Giants have played well so far.
Hiromi Nagao, who is rated as the 32nd best prospect by BNN, contributed to the Yomiuri win with a solo home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"Feels good to get the job done," Nagao said after the game.
