Swallows Lose, 6-3, at Ballpark of Yamagata College
|
Yomiuri Giants starter Chang-wei Xiu pitched a strong game against the Tokyo Yakult Swallows at Ballpark of Yamagata College, leading the Giants to a 6-3 win. Yomiuri reliever Tekkan Ishihara was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Pir Syeda took the loss. Kenshin Kawamoto, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Hiroyoshi Kato, who is rated as the 52nd best prospect by BNN, chipped in for Yomiuri with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
"We take it day by day here," said Kato, "and today was a good one for us."
Losses have been rare for the Swallows, who are now 3-1.
