Bay Stars Subdue Yomiuri, 3-1
|
The Yokohama Bay Stars trumped the Yomiuri Giants, 3-1, at Cuckoos Stadium. Yokohama center fielder Issei Maruyama was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Yokohama reliever Yi She was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Xiong Geng took the loss. Nobu Arita locked down his 2nd save.
Yokohama third baseman Yoshino Takata contributed to the cause with a single in the bottom of the third. For the game, Takata went 1-3 with a walk.
"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Takata. "It eases the tension."
The Bay Stars, now 2-0, have hit the ground running this season.
