Swallows Turn Back Chunichi, 4-2

Fans of the Tokyo Yakult Swallows who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Tokyo Yakult win over the visiting Chunichi Dragons, 4-2. Hidenori Tomita started for the home team against Yuji Murai. Yuji Murai earned the coveted player of the game honors. Matt Stevenson earned save number 1.
The Swallows got a big at-bat from first baseman Shinnosuke Arakaki. For the game, Arakaki went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Tokyo Yakult a 3-0 lead.
Arakaki told a Tokyo Yakult Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
