Lions Win at ORIX, 8-5
|
Takahiko Shimabukuro left his imprint on the 8-5 Saitama Seibu win against the ORIX Buffaloes. Shimabukuro, who is rated as the 63rd best prospect by BNN, went 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Akifumi Yamauchi picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. John Griffin was tagged with the loss. The first-place Buffaloes have lost 4 consecutive games.
Shimabukuro had a game-changing single in the top of the seventh. On a 2-0 fastball from Takuzo Okuyama, he banged a 2-run single to center, giving the Lions a 5-3 lead. It was the 44th hit of the year for Shimabukuro.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Shimabukuro.
