Sugimoto, Golden Eagles Beat Hawks, 6-2

Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Kiyotaka Sugimoto, the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles defeated the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, 6-2. Sugimoto was 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Golden Eagles. Tohoku Rakuten reliever Yukiyoshi Gushiken picked up the win to move to 3-0. Jae-hyung Cho suffered the loss. With the victory, the Golden Eagles record now stands at 25-28.
Sugimoto had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the fifth inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Golden Eagles went on to win.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Sugimoto.
