Fighters Bang Out 6-2 Win Versus Saitama Seibu
|
The Saitama Seibu Lions got a sterling performance from third baseman Heiichi Matsuo, but the Fighters still prevailed, 6-2. Matsuo was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 1 for 2 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Hokkaido Nippon-Ham reliever Ho-win Pian picked up the win to move to 3-0. Justin Utting suffered the loss. The Fighters bumped their record to 30-23 with this latest triumph.
Hokkaido Nippon-Ham shortstop Kunimitsu Kawamura contributed to the cause with a double in the top of the second. For the game, Kawamura went 1-1 with a double and was hit by a pitch.
Kawamura attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
