Lions Prevail, 4-3, Over Hokkaido Nippon-Ham
|
Saitama Seibu beat Hokkaido Nippon-Ham at Field of the Chariots, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to third baseman Heiichi Matsuo, who earned player of the game honors. Mikiya Kubo, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save. Saitama Seibu is now 23-29, Hokkaido Nippon-Ham 29-23.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fourth when Matsuo, who is the 8th-best prospect in the Lions organization, hit a 3-run home run. It propelled the Lions into the lead, 3-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Matsuo.
