Behind a solid performance from catcher Kazushi Miyamoto, the Chiba Lotte Marines defeated the ORIX Buffaloes, 3-0. Miyamoto went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk for the Marines. Joon-suk Wie, credited with the win, is now 4-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. The save was Kazuteru Kano's, his 1st.

The Marines got a big at-bat from second baseman Cheong-u Pak. For the game, Pak went 1 for 4. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 80th hit of the season gave Chiba Lotte a 1-0 lead.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Chiba Lotte manager Ira Wood.

Chiba Lotte now has a 3-game win streak.
