With designated hitter Feng-yi Man leading the charge, the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks defeated the Saitama Seibu Lions, 4-3, at Ballpark of Aomori College. Man, who is tied for 5th in the PL with a .359 batting average, went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. Zai-shuo Qu got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The Hawks go to 22-26, putting them third in the Pacific Division.
Man had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-1 changeup from Matt Todd, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the Hawks a 4-3 lead. It was the 7th double of the year for Man.
"I was a little disappointed," said Saitama Seibu manager Lawrence Roberts. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
