Lions Score Late, Upend Buffaloes, 5-4
|
The Saitama Seibu Lions eked out a 5-4 win versus the ORIX Buffaloes at Field of the Chariots. Nobody did more than first baseman Takahiko Shimabukuro, who captured player of the game honors. Saitama Seibu reliever Mikiya Kubo picked up the win to move to 1-2. Kouichi Hayashi suffered the loss. Saitama Seibu is now 20-25.
Mitsuo Yamashita was the walk-off hero for Saitama Seibu. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Lions pinch hitter hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Shimabukuro told the Saitama Seibu Chronicle.
