Saitama Seibu right fielder Reijiro Hata had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Chiba Lotte Marines, 6-5. Saitama Seibu reliever Akifumi Yamauchi picked up the win to move to 1-1. Andy Bowersox suffered the loss. Mikiya Kubo finished the game for Saitama Seibu and earned his 6th save.

Myoung-chul Yoo aided the Saitama Seibu cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the catcher was 1-3 with a walk.

"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Hata said (again).

Saitama Seibu is now 14-20. Chiba Lotte is 15-19.
