Islanders Lose, 3-1, at Debris Field
|
The Kansas City Tornadoes went home winners at Debris Field, thanks in large part to starter Pero Donini. Donini silenced the Hawaii Islanders, enabling Kansas City to grab the 3-1 win. Kansas City reliever Joe Kearns got the win, raising his record to 6-2. Ehrich Weiss was tagged with the loss. The Tornadoes now have a record of 36-43.
The Tornadoes got a big at-bat from designated hitter Oliver North. For the game, North went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs. In the bottom of the seventh, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 20th double of the season gave Kansas City a 2-1 lead.
Afterward, Tornadoes manager Ryan Blandford was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
