Tanaka Slugs Lions to 15-10 Win
The Saitama Seibu-Hokkaido Nippon-Ham matchup at Field of the Chariots turned into a slugfest.

With right fielder Kuniaki Tanaka leading the charge, the Saitama Seibu Lions defeated the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, 15-10, at Field of the Chariots. Tanaka, who is tied for 6th in the PL in total bases with 49, was 4-4 with 2 home runs, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 4 times and driving in 3. Saitama Seibu reliever Kaita Yamamoto was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Yusuke Yamasaki took the loss for Hokkaido Nippon-Ham.

Heiichi Matsuo, who is tied for 9th in the PL in RBI with 15, aided the Saitama Seibu cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman went 1-3 with 2 walks. He scored 2 times.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Lawrence Roberts said.

Their 8-14 record puts the Lions 5th in the Pacific Division.
