A 3-RBI performance from Toji Wakayama, who is tied for 5th in the PL in triples with 1, helped the Chiba Lotte Marines beat the Saitama Seibu Lions, 5-1. Chiba Lotte reliever Shinpei Nishida was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Ryan Desmond took the loss. The Marines bumped their record to 10-10 with this latest triumph.

Wakayama had a big at-bat with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the fourth inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Marines went on to win.

In postgame remarks, Wakayama said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
