Fighters Prevail, 4-3, Over Chiba Lotte
|
Despite a great performance by Chiba Lotte left fielder Takehisa Quillen, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters defeated the Marines by the score of 4-3 at Ballpark of Hakui College. Quillen was 3-4 with a home run and a double. Isao Yonemura picked up the save for Hokkaido Nippon-Ham, his 5th of the year. The Fighters have an impressive 10-6 record.
The Fighters got a big at-bat from shortstop Kunimitsu Kawamura. For the game, Kawamura went 1 for 2 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Hokkaido Nippon-Ham a 4-2 lead.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Kawamura told the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Daily. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
