Lions Come Back Late to Clip Hawks
|
The Saitama Seibu Lions grabbed a 4-3 win over the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks at Ballpark of Aomori College. Saitama Seibu shortstop Yugo Muramoto went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk to earn player of the game honors. Mikiya Kubo earned his 3rd save in 3 tries. Even with the win, the Lions have a dismal 5-13 record.
The Lions got a big at-bat from first baseman Takahiko Shimabukuro. For the game, Shimabukuro went 1 for 5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Saitama Seibu a 4-3 lead.
"Both teams played hard," said Saitama Seibu manager Lawrence Roberts.
