Victory Over Lions Takes ORIX to 10-4
Saitama Seibu got a terrific performance from left fielder Jason Gates, but it wasn't enough to beat the ORIX Buffaloes. ORIX won the Field of the Chariots contest, 8-5. Gates was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. Reliever Tatsuma Okura picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ryan Desmond took the loss. ORIX has now won 3 in a row.

Kenzaburo Yoneda helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run single to give ORIX a 2-0 lead.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Yoneda.
