Ishibashi Excels, But Marines Win
|
Fukuoka SoftBank got a terrific game from designated hitter Hisaki Ishibashi. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Chiba Lotte, 10-7. Ishibashi was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Chiba Lotte, now 6-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.
The Marines got a lift from second baseman Cheong-u Pak who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Mike Leary. It was his 8th RBI of the season and put Chiba Lotte in front, 1-0.
"We maximized our offense today," said Chiba Lotte skipper Ira Wood. "That makes everyone's life easier."
