The ORIX Buffaloes got a strong performance from pitcher Sung-your Park, who stymied the Fukuoka SoftBank offense en route to a 3-1 win at Ballpark of Aomori College. Park, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Travis Lapp recorded the save for ORIX, his 2nd of the season.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when third baseman Heita Tokunaga, who is the 7th-best prospect in the Buffaloes organization, hit a single. The Buffaloes went on to win.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Park said.
ORIX, now 4-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
