Golden Eagles Come Back Late to Top Buffaloes
|
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles were eager to watch Katsumi Nakata square off against Hachemon Hitomi of the visiting ORIX Buffaloes. In the end, the Golden Eagles won the game, 3-2, with Katsumi Nakata earning player of the game honors.
Sang-your Choe was the walk-off hero for Tohoku Rakuten. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Golden Eagles third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Tohoku Rakuten manager David Pearson said.
