Hawks Win at Saitama Seibu, 10-2

The 2034 season is off to a poor start for the Saitama Seibu Lions. The Lions fell to the visiting Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, 10-2, at Field of the Chariots. Ming Lai earned the coveted player the game award for Fukuoka SoftBank. Lai, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up no walks. Takuro Suzuki earned the save for Fukuoka SoftBank, his 1st of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Fukuoka SoftBank, had it not been for Kaiji Nagata, the top prospect . Nagata contributed a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Fukuoka SoftBank up, 5-0.
Saitama Seibu manager Lawrence Roberts called the blowout loss "a real stinker."
