Portland got a strong outing from Félix Reina as the Beavers defeated the Georgia Grays, 3-2, at The Death Star. Reina, now 7-3, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 9, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. Olivier Martin converted his 25th save in 30 tries.
The Beavers got a big at-bat from first baseman Lai-hsiang Xiu. For the game, Xiu was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. In the top of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Portland a 2-0 lead.
"Feels good to get the job done," Reina said after the game.
Portland is now 39-41, while Georgia is 38-41.
