Lancers Get Road Win, 6-4
|
The Canby Lancers dealt the Topeka West Chargers a 6-4 loss at Breakers Ballpark. Scott Compton was the star on offense. He was 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Jesse Bitar got the win, improving to 1-2. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 2. The save went to Chad Kula, his 2nd this season.
Compton contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Canby in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Compton took a fastball from Kyle Brisson and stroked the home run to right. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Lancers to leap in front, 5-2.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Compton said.
Canby occupies 4th place in the Pete Rose League Roger Clemens Division at 11-16.
