The Lerna Lions got a superb performance from catcher Logan DiPirro, but the Santa Clara Vampires still won the game, 9-8. DiPirro was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Matt Reger locked down his 6th save. The Vampires bumped their record to 13-13 with this latest triumph.

Had Dave Catalan not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Catalan hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 9-8, in favor of the Vampires.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Catalan told the Santa Clara News.
