Multi-HR Day for Newman as Tigers Overpower Vampires, 8-1
|
The Tioga Central Tigers defeated the Santa Clara Vampires, 8-1, at Alleycats Ballpark. Tioga Central right fielder Chris Newman was named player of the game for his superb performance. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Tioga Central is now 12-13, while Santa Clara is 12-13.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Brendan Grimes. For the game, Grimes went 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Tioga Central a 3-0 lead.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Grimes.
