Cardinals Lick Panthers, 10-0
|
The umbrellas came out during the Kearny High-Pleasantville contest at Loggers Ballpark.
Cardinals right fielder Travis Duchesneau put his stamp on his team's 10-0 win over the Pleasantville Panthers. Duchesneau was 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for Kearny High in the contest. David Mincer got the win, improving to 4-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits and no runs, while striking out 8 and walking 1.
The Cardinals got a big at-bat from designated hitter Joe McGrath. For the game, McGrath was 1 for 4 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Kearny High a 2-0 lead.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Duchesneau.
Kearny High is now 13-12, while Pleasantville is 15-10.
