Corrie Excels, But Chargers Win
Topeka West and Tenafly engaged in a slugfest at Ballpark of León HS.

Topeka West withstood an impressive performance by Tenafly right fielder Michael Corrie to defeat the Tigers, 14-11, at Ballpark of León HS. Corrie went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Topeka West reliever Bill Lee got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Mike Russell was tagged with the loss. Earning his 6th save for Topeka West was Andrew Morris.

Matt Bengston, who is tied for 7th in the PRL in RBI with 29, aided the Topeka West cause with a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth. For the game, the center fielder was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs.

"I felt good up there," said Bengston. "I saw the ball well."

Topeka West is now 11-13, while Tenafly is 9-15.
